Vogue UK April 2008: Victoria Beckham

Victoria Beckham, Vogue UK April 2008

Oh how the mighty has fallen. I don't know why I was surprised Posh got the cover, afterall, they did Colleen McLoughlin too and in the WAG pecking order, she is only second to Mrs. Beckham. To give Vogue some credit, they did manage to unchav her and in the cover, she has managed to look sophisticated. A word I personally don't reserve for Posh. Here are some of the excerpts and if you're one of the many who is not tired of her poshmongering, the rest of the spread:

On the Spice Girls reunion and World Tour: "I want the boys to see me as a pop star, not just someone telling them to do their homework, and David can be reminded of the person he fell in love with."
Her fashion tip to nab the perfect shoe: "If they don't have my size, I just stick toilet paper in - if that's what it takes to get a nice shoe."
On the Rebecca Loos affair: "You know I love and trust my husband a hundred per cent. It's my job to protect the family. We have children and I wasn't going to go to court and drag up my personal life when my children was old enough to understand what they were hearing."

A Roman Holiday

I just came back from a weekend in Rome. And what can I say? Rome was fab! It's not too big of a city to be intimidating to a tourist. The people were friendly and helpful and considering how little we both knew Italian, patient too. I did a bit of shopping of course. Most of their shops were mercifully lined up in the main road which is the Via del Corso. The road ends with the famous and crowded Piazza di Spagna where the equally popular Spanish Steps is. As we were trekking around this area looking for a good place to eat, I spied a little shop with a lot of nice trinkets on it. And boy, the shop was like my candy store. It's filled wall to wall of accessories. I was particularly interested in their drop earrings as you can see in the pic. I like a lot of their stuff but alas, I possibly can't buy everything I like in the store. I admitted defeat and retreated and vowed to come back to another one of their locations - hopefully in London or at least an online store. I immediately googled Kelokura but sadly hit a deadend. I'm not even sure if this is their website - http://www.kelokuraweb.com/. I can't tell because the site doesn't work! If anyone knows more about this store, let me know.

Elle UK April 2008 Issue

There's always something sunny and summery with Kate Hudson as seen on this month's cover with that gorgeous Dolce and Gabbana floral dress. The headline - "Why I chose unpredictable men" misleads you in thinking she might have opened up on the score of men that has been linked to her after her divorce. She keeps mum on the rumours circulating that she's been dating the likes of Orlando Bloom, Dax Shepard, Justin Timberlake, the late Heath Ledger even her ex-flame Owen Wilson. The issue also dips its fingers on the current green bandwagon with the article "Can fashion have a conscience?" While it's commendable that some designers are now incorporating fair trade fabrics into their designs or go organic a la Stella McCartney, one has a feeling that it has hedged one of the most controversial and divisive topics in fashion - the use of fur.
